A method of separating particles such as ores by utilizing differences in their specific gravity. It is mainly used for ore dressing (gravity dressing). Separation in heavy liquid, water, and air is called heavy liquid sorting, hydraulic sorting, and air sorting, respectively. Sorting machines include jigs and vibrating tables.
