Secret Doctrine - Hijiboumon

This is one of the most representative heresies in Jodo Shinshu. According to ancient legend, Zenran, the son of Shinran, claimed to have been secretly taught this teaching by his father in the middle of the night, which caused doubts and divisions among Shinran's disciples and led to Shinran's disownment. It is said that Nyodo of Omachi, Echizen Province (Fukui Prefecture), who was in contact with Kakunyo, the third abbot of Honganji, recited this teaching. However, there is no conclusive evidence that Nyodo recited this teaching. It was particularly popular in the Hokuriku region, but it was this teaching that Renyo, the founder of Honganji, most vigorously criticized and attacked as a heresy of Shinshu. These doctrines include the Ichiyaku doctrine, which says that one can attain Buddhahood in this world if one has faith; the Non-worship doctrine, which says that since one can attain Buddhahood if one has faith, there is no need to worship statues of Buddha at all; Relying on Good Teachers, which says that rebirth in the Pure Land is determined by relying on wise teachers (teachers, monks); the Ten Kalpa Secret Literature, which says that Amida promised us rebirth in the Pure Land since the time of the Ten Kalpas of Enlightenment, as well as the Hidden Nembutsu and the Secret Literature of the Storehouse.
