A group of painters led by Gauguin. A translation of the French term École de Pont-Aven. Pont-Aven is a small village in Brittany, France, where Gauguin often stayed from 1886 onwards. In 1888, young painters including Emile Bernard and Sérusier gathered at the inn and promoted Synthetism.
