A group of painters led by Gauguin. A translation of the French term École de Pont-Aven. Pont-Aven is a small village in Brittany, France, where Gauguin often stayed from 1886 onwards. In 1888, young painters including Emile Bernard and Sérusier gathered at the inn and promoted Synthetism. The group naturally disbanded after Gauguin left in 1889. → Related topic Cloazonism Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
