Pont-Aven faction - Pont-Aven is
A group of painters led by Gauguin. A translation of the French term École de Pont-Aven. Pont-Aven is a small village in Brittany, France, where Gauguin often stayed from 1886 onwards. In 1888, young painters including Emile Bernard and Sérusier gathered at the inn and promoted Synthetism. The group naturally disbanded after Gauguin left in 1889.

ゴーギャンを中心とした画家のグループ。フランス語エコール・ド・ポンタベンの訳。ポンタベン(ポンタバン)はフランス,ブルターニュ地方の寒村で,ゴーギャンは1886年以降しばしば滞在したが,1888年その宿屋を根城としてエミール・ベルナール,セリュジエら若い画家が集まってサンテティスムを推進した。1889年ゴーギャンが去ってから自然解消。
