Higashi Nara Ruins

The remains of a settlement from the early Yayoi period to the Middle Ages are located in the area around Sawaragi Nishi, Higashi-Nara, Ibaraki City, Osaka Prefecture. It is located on a slight elevation extending east from the Senri Hills, and is estimated to extend over 800m from east to west and north to south. Since its discovery in 1971, the Higashi-Nara Site Research Association has conducted several excavations, uncovering square moated tombs, dwelling sites, and ditches from the early, middle, and late Yayoi periods, and a large ditch and dwelling site from the early Kofun period. Excavated remains include many earthenware and wooden vessels, but in the 1974-75 excavation, cast-related remains such as stone bronze bells, clay bronze spears, and magatama bells and bellows were unearthed. All of the bronze bells were made from tuffaceous sandstone found in the Kobe Group, and include the older outer-ring type and the middle flat-ring type. It was revealed that the bronze bells excavated at Sakurazuka, Toyonaka City, Osaka Prefecture and Gahaishiyama, Zentsuji City, Kagawa Prefecture were produced from one of these bells, and the third bronze bell excavated at Kehi, Toyooka City, Hyogo Prefecture was produced from the other.

大阪府茨木市東奈良，沢良宜西一帯に存在する弥生時代前期から中世に及ぶ集落址。千里丘陵から東に延びる微高地上にあり，範囲は東西，南北ともに 800mをこえると推定される。 1971年に発見されて以来，東奈良遺跡調査会によって数次にわたる発掘調査が行われ，弥生時代のものとしては，前期，中期，後期の方形周溝墓や住居址，溝，古墳時代のものとしては，前期の大溝や住居址などが発見されている。出土した遺物には，多くの土器や木器などがあるが，74～75年の調査では，石製の銅鐸鎔笵，土製の銅戈および勾玉の鎔笵や鞴 (ふいご) など鋳造に関係する遺物が出土した。銅鐸の鎔笵はすべて神戸層群中に産する凝灰質砂岩でつくられたもので，古段階の外縁鈕式と中段階の扁平鈕式のものがある。これらの鎔笵の一つからは，大阪府豊中市桜塚出土鐸と香川県善通寺市我拝師山出土鐸が製作され，他の一つからは，兵庫県豊岡市気比出土第3号鐸が製作されたことが明らかとなった。
