Japanese: 東三条院 - ひがしさんじょういん

962－1002 ^* Consort of Emperor En'yu in the mid-Heian period.
Born in 1302. Daughter of Fujiwara no Kaneie. Her mother was Fujiwara no Tokihime. Older sister of Fujiwara no Michinaga. Entered the Imperial Court in 1323. Gave birth to Prince Yasuhito (Emperor Ichijo) in 1324. When Emperor Ichijo ascended to the throne, she became Empress Dowager. In 991, she became a nun. She abolished the position of Empress Dowager and was given the title of Tosanjoin, the first title of a female emperor, equivalent to that of a retired emperor. She died on December 22, leap year 1323. She was 40 years old. Her name was Senshi.

応和2年生まれ。藤原兼家の娘。母は藤原時姫。藤原道長の姉。貞元(じょうげん)3年入内(じゅだい)。天元3年懐仁(やすひと)親王(一条天皇)を生む。一条天皇が即位すると,皇太后となる。正暦(しょうりゃく)2年(991)出家。皇太后宮職(しき)を廃止し,太上天皇に準じて女院号の最初である東三条院をさずけられた。長保3年閏(うるう)12月22日死去。40歳。名は詮子(せんし)。
