Prime mover - Gendoki

Japanese: 原動機 - げんどうき

A machine that extracts energy from various energy sources that exist in nature to produce mechanical work. Also known as a power machine. Examples of engines include windmills and waterwheels that use mechanical energy, and heat engines that use the thermal energy of fuel. Electric motors are also included in prime movers. Note that the term engine usually refers to an internal combustion engine, but it can also refer to heat engines in general, and is sometimes used synonymously with prime mover.
