A town in Kamikawa District, central Hokkaido. It is located southeast of Asahikawa City, and the eastern part of the town belongs to Daisetsuzan National Park. The Daisetsuzan mountain range, including Hokkaido's highest peak, Mt. Asahidake (2,290m), towers over the area. There are Tenninkyo Onsen, Asahidake Onsen, and Hagoromonotaki Waterfall. In addition to producing rice in the lowlands on the right bank of the Chubetu River in the west, the town also engages in woodworking and furniture manufacturing. 247.30 km2 .
