1928‐ French conductor. After studying mathematics, he studied musicology and conducting in Paris and Salzburg. In 1953, he founded the Jean-Marie Leclerc Ensemble, named after an 18th-century violinist, and devoted himself in particular to performing and introducing 17th- and 18th-century French music. In 1959, the orchestra changed its name to the Orchestre de Chamber de Paillard, and continued to perform internationally, sometimes performing contemporary works. Paillard's contribution to the reevaluation of 17th- and 18th-century music remains significant even today, when contemporary research has progressed significantly.
