A British automobile company. Founded in 1968 as British Leyland Motors, the company was hit hard by the 1973 oil crisis and the subsequent recession, and was nationalized in 1975, becoming British Leyland. In 1981 it became BL PLC. Manufactures a variety of vehicles, including passenger cars, buses, and trucks. In 1986 it changed its name to the Rover Group.
