…The solitary mystic Ibn al-'Arabi wrote the Meccan Revelation and other works, and his cosmological theosophy had a decisive influence on Muslim thought thereafter. In the field of science, it produced such scholars as al-Zarqālī (?-1087) and Bitrouzi (?-1248) who wrote the Astronomical Book, Ibn al-Bayṭāl (?-1248) who wrote the Herbal Treatise, Zahrawi (?-1250) who wrote the Medical Book Advice, and Ibn Zuhr (?-1251) who wrote the Explanatory Note. These works were also translated into Latin and contributed to the birth of modern European science. …
