Bando Hachihei

Japanese:
Bando Hachihei

They are also called "Happei-shi." They are local clans of the Kanto region that appear in military chronicles such as "Taiheiki" and are often listed together with the Musashi Seven. "Teijo Miscellany" lists eight clans, Kazusa, Chiba, Miura, Dohi, Chichibu, Oba, Kajiwara, and Nagao, and this is the commonly used name, but "Seiritsuen Essays" lists a different clan, so this "eight" does not necessarily refer to a specific family, but rather to many. In any case, they are local families of the Kanto region that claim to be descended from Kanmu Taira Takamochi, who came down to the country as Kazusa no Suke at the end of the 9th century. According to the Sonpi Bunmyaku, the eight clans in the "Teijo Zakki" are descendants of Takamochi's sons Yoshibumi and Yoshimochi, but this Taira family tree is confusing and cannot be trusted, and in the Enkyobon "Tale of the Heike" and "Genpei Tojo Roku," which were compiled in the early 14th century, they are all positioned as being of the Yoshibumi line. Regardless of the facts, it is interesting that Kunika - Sadamori and Shigemori - are not listed here as descendants of Takamochi.
