Year of death: 14th November 1207 (4th December 1207) Year of birth: 1136 A Shingon Buddhist monk from the late Heian period. Son of Yamato Sadahira of Otori County, Izumi Province (Osaka Prefecture). From an early age, he climbed Mount Koya to study esoteric Buddhism, but after receiving a message in a dream from a god, he entered Mount Amano in Kawachi. Later, under the orders of Emperor Goshirakawa, he renamed the abandoned temple Kongoji Temple on Mount Amano in Kawachi. In 1172 (Joan 2), he welcomed Emperor Takakura and performed a memorial service, in 1178 (Jisho 2), he built the main hall, and in 1181 (Yowa 1), he held a Denpo ceremony, and is said to be the founder of the revival of Kongoji Temple on Mount Amano.
