A former town in Osato District, northern Saitama Prefecture. It is located on the Arakawa alluvial fan, west of Kumagaya City. It produces rice and wheat, and is also a major producer of vegetables and flowers. There is an industrial complex. The Chichibu Railway runs through the town. The grave of Hatakeyama Shigetada is located here. In January 2006, it was incorporated into Hanazono Town, Okabe Town, and Fukaya City in Osato District. 21.77 km2 .
