Pan Yue - Hangaku

A Chinese scholar from the Western Jin Dynasty. His pen name was Anren. He was born in Zhongmu, Lingyang (Zhongmu County, Henan Province). He was said to be a peculiar child, and during the reign of Emperor Wu, he wrote the "Future of the Land of the Grained Fields" and became famous. However, he was envied by others and lived in seclusion for 10 years. Later, he became a central official, but his career did not go as planned. In the "Future of the Leisurely Life," he expressed his dissatisfaction, saying that he should accept his place at a standstill and that a life of seclusion was the best he could have. He was over 50 years old at the time. At a young age, he incurred the wrath of the politician Sun Xiu, and was later executed after being accused of causing trouble with his friends. He was so handsome that when he went down the road in Luoyang, women would throw fruit into his carriage and fill it with people. He was frivolous and prone to profit, and frequented the gates of the powerful Jia Mi. Many of his poems were sentimental, and his "Poem of Mourning" in which he lamented the death of his wife is famous. He had seven volumes of "Pan Yue Collection." 中国、西晋(せいしん)の文人。字(あざな)は安仁(あんじん)。滎陽中牟(けいようちゅうぼう)（河南省中牟県）の出身。幼時奇童といわれ、武帝のとき「藉田(せきでん)の賦(ふ)」をつくり、才名あがり、かえって人に嫉妬(しっと)され野に隠栖(いんせい)すること10年。のち中央の官僚となったが、出世は意のごとくならず、その不満を漏らして、止足(しそく)の分(ぶん)を知り閑居(かんきょ)の生活こそ望ましいと述べたのが「閑居の賦」である。ときに50歳を過ぎていた。若くして政客孫秀(そんしゅう)の恨みを買い、のち一味と乱をなすと讒言(ざんげん)され処刑される。彼は容儀美しいため、洛陽(らくよう)の道を行けば、婦人たちが果物を投げ入れて車がいっぱいになったという。性は軽薄で利に走りやすく権力家賈謐(かひつ)の門に出入する。その詩には感傷的なものが多く、妻の死を悲しんだ「悼亡(とうぼう)の詩」は名高い。『潘岳集』七巻があった。『晋書』55に伝がある。
