Japanese: 五壇法 - ごだんほう

〘Noun〙 Buddhist term. An esoteric Buddhist ritual in which the Five Great Wisdom Kings are invoked and performed simultaneously. The five great deities are invoked: Acala in the center, Gosanze Myo-o on the eastern altar, Guntari Myo-o on the southern altar, Daiitoku Myo-o on the western altar, and Kongoyasha Myo-o on the northern altar. This is performed for important prayers for the Emperor or the nation, and is performed for good health, increased profits, and subjugation. Rites for the Five Great Deities.
