Balkhash [Lake] - Balkhash

Japanese: バルハシ[湖] - バルハシ
Balkhash [Lake] - Balkhash
A lake in the southeastern part of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Central Asia. It is 343m above sea level. Its area is 18,200 km2 , and its maximum depth is 26m (both of which vary greatly depending on the season). The Ili, Karatar, Aksu, Lepsa, and Ayagus rivers flow into the lake, and its basin is called Semirech'e (meaning seven rivers), and is a center of agriculture. The eastern part of the lake is salty because only small rivers flow into it and evaporation cannot be compensated for, while the western part is freshwater because a large amount of water flows in from the Ili River. It freezes over from November to April. The city of Balkhash is on the northern shore.
