Partita - Partita (English spelling) Italian

The name of a musical form used in the Baroque period. Originally used in Italy to mean "variations," this usage spread to Germany, where variations based on hymns were called "chorale partita." In Germany, the word also came to mean "suite" from the end of the 17th century, and after Froberger and Kuhnau, J.S. Bach brought the form to artistic perfection with his six partitas for harpsichord (BWV825-830).

Japanese:

バロック時代に用いられた音楽形式の名称。元来イタリアで「変奏曲」の意味で使われたが、この用法はドイツにも入り、賛美歌に基づく変奏曲が「コラール・パルティータ」とよばれた。また、ドイツでは17世紀末から「組曲」の意味にもこの語が使われ、フローベルガーやクーナウのあと、J・S・バッハが六曲のハープシコード用パルティータ(BWV825~830)で芸術的な完成へ導いた。
