Paricutin [mountain] - Paricutin
An active volcano located in central Mexico, about 300 km west of Mexico City. It has an elevation of 2,810 m. In 1943, a fissure appeared in a field on a plateau at an altitude of about 2,000 m, and after several years it spewed lava and volcanic ash, forming a stratovolcano.
