Real Evil - Jitsuaku
〘 noun 〙 A type of role in Kabuki. Among the villains, this character is cruel and strong-willed, and has no regrets or changes of heart, remaining thoroughly evil from beginning to end. Also refers to the actor who plays this character. Examples include Niki Danjo from "Kara Sendaihagi" and Takechi Mitsuhide from "Ehon Taikoki". ※Hyōbanki Yaro Nigiri Kobushi (1696), 3 "If I were to take over the affairs of a young man now, I would open up my evil claws and unite with him in this hateful custom."
