"Cheers Song" - Kanpai no Uta

...Because of the romanticism of the content and the beauty of the sentimental melody that enhances it, this work is beloved as a tragic love story, and is one of Verdi's masterpieces from his middle period. It is filled with superb pieces, including the "Prelude," the "Drinking Song," the aria "Ah, is that the one" by the female protagonist Violetta, and "Sea and Land of Provence" by Germont, the father of Alfredo, the lover. It was first performed in Japan in 1919 (Taisho 8) by the Russian Opera Company.
