…In response to this, socialists, mainly from neutral countries, continued their efforts for international solidarity, and held an international conference in the Swiss village of Zimmerwald from September 5 to 8, 1915. Participants included socialists from three Nordic countries, Poland, Romania, and Bulgaria, as well as socialists from exiled Russians, and opponents from Germany and France, totaling 38 people from 11 countries (the British representative was not allowed to leave the country and did not attend). They criticized the policy of peace within the castle and called for the realization of a peace settlement without annexation, and elected the International Socialist Committee (ISK), consisting of Swiss Robert Grimm (1881-1958) and others, as its executive body.
