Born: August 15, 1589. [Died] October 27, 1613. Duke of Transylvania (reigned 1608-13). Supported by Calvinist nobles and Hajdu, he defeated the pro-Habsburg forces in 1611. However, his cruelty and tyranny led to a rebellion by Hajdu, and he was assassinated.
