Hattori ruins

Japanese: 服部遺跡 - はっとりいせき

Located in Hattori-cho, Moriyama City, Shiga Prefecture, it was discovered during the construction of the Yasu River spillway, which has been ongoing since 1971. Excavations conducted between 1974 and 1979 revealed remains from the early Yayoi period to the mid-Heian period. The site is located about 2km up the Yasu River from the shore of Lake Biwa, and the remains from the early Yayoi period are 2.5 to 3m below the surface and at an elevation of around 86m. During the early Yayoi period, there was a settlement on a slight rise, and the remains of rice paddies from the same period are found in the surrounding marshes and on the gentle slopes that transition to them.

滋賀県守山市服部町にあり，1971年以来の野洲（やす）川放水路の建設工事に伴って発見された。74‐79年の発掘調査で，弥生時代前期から平安時代中ごろに至る遺構が判明した。遺跡は琵琶湖岸より野洲川を約2kmさかのぼった地にあり，弥生時代前期の遺構で現地表面下2.5～3mの深さ，標高は86m前後である。弥生前期には，微高地上に集落があり，その周囲の低湿地とそれに移行する緩斜面に同期の水田跡が広がっている。
