A landform formed by many deep clefts on the surface of the earth, which consists of unconsolidated clay, mud, and weathered layers of granite. Also called badlands. It is called badlands because it has many sawtooth ridges and is inconvenient to travel to. It is often found in arid regions with little vegetation, but in Japan, it can be found on a small scale in granite areas such as the Chugoku region and the Seto Inland Sea.
