Hattori clan

Japanese: 服部氏 - はっとりうじ
Hattori clan
As descendants of Hattori no Muraji, the Hattori clan is found throughout Japan, but the most famous is the Hattori clan based in Hattori-go, Ahai County, Iga (Ueno City, Mie Prefecture). The Iga Hattori clan is a distinguished family with its eldest family, who had a clan god and clan temple within Hattori-go, and illegitimate families in Kuroda Manor, Ishiuchi Manor, Hirakaki Manor, and other places. In the Kamakura period, the family sided with Minamoto no Yoritomo early on, and thereafter served the shogunate as vassals. In the Nanboku-cho period, the family formed a kokujin ikki (local uprising) with vassals and non-vassals from Ahai County and Yamada County, centered around the eldest family, Hattori Mochinobu, and opposed manor lords, shugo, and neighboring powers.
