...It was a masterpiece of Gothic typeface and the first book printed using movable type, and in every respect it was the first book printed using movable type. It is said that people were struck by the spirit that emanated from the words even before reading it. However, Gutenberg had spent all his fortune on various experiments and was unable to repay the capital he had borrowed from Johannes Fust (?-1466), a wealthy man from Mainz, and the partnership was dissolved in a lawsuit. After November 1455, the business was transferred to Fust, and the publication of the Bible continued in collaboration with Gutenberg's disciple Peter Schöffer (?-1503) and Fust. ...
