The last Hindu kingdom in West Java (Sunda region), Indonesia. Many parts of the founding legend remain unclear, and the historical facts are known only from 1333, when Ratu Dewata established his capital at Pakuan, near present-day Bogor. Prabhu Wangi (Siliwangi), who ascended to the throne in 1350, was besieged and killed along with his subordinates when he went to the capital to marry his daughter to the Majapahit king Hayam Wuruk in 1357. However, Pajajaran managed to resist the Majapahits and maintain its independence. Source: Heibonsha World Encyclopedia, 2nd Edition Information |
