Pajajaran (English spelling)

Japanese: パジャジャラン（英語表記）Pajajaran

The last Hindu kingdom in West Java (Sunda region), Indonesia. Many parts of the founding legend remain unclear, and the historical facts are known only from 1333, when Ratu Dewata established his capital at Pakuan, near present-day Bogor. Prabhu Wangi (Siliwangi), who ascended to the throne in 1350, was besieged and killed along with his subordinates when he went to the capital to marry his daughter to the Majapahit king Hayam Wuruk in 1357. However, Pajajaran managed to resist the Majapahits and maintain its independence.

インドネシア，西ジャワ(スンダ地方)最後のヒンドゥー王国。建国の伝説には不明の点が多く，史実として知られるのは1333年ラトゥ･デワタが現在のボゴール市に近いパクアンに都を定めたときからである。1350年に即位したプラブー･ワンギ(シリワンギ)は，57年に自分の娘とマジャパイト国王ハヤム･ウルクとの結婚のために後者の都に赴いたとき，奸計により包囲攻撃を受け，部下とともに殺された。しかしパジャジャランはマジャパイトに抗してよく独立を保った。
