Crynes, M.

...refers to organisms that have been medically modified to be able to function in foreign environments such as outer space or the deep sea floor by replacing some of their bodily organs with artificial ones. This term was proposed by M. Crynes in 1960, and is defined as "an organic complex extended and expanded externally that functions as a complete equilibrium control system without consciousness." In reality, the original positive intention of expanding the functions of organisms has faded, and medical cyborgs, such as prosthetic limbs and artificial organs that mainly compensate for functional deficiencies in humans, have become the mainstream of research.
