The ring-shaped burrowing beetle, Balanoglossus carnosus , can reach a total length of up to 1m, and has well-developed wing-like processes on both sides of the anterior part of the posterior body. The wingless burrowing beetle, Glandiceps hacksi , reaches a total length of 15-20cm, and has no wing-like processes.
