A type of uniform in which a scepter (shaku) is worn to give a sense of dignity. In China, the scepter system has existed since ancient times, and was originally used as a memorandum for writing memorandums. In Japan, it is believed that the use of scepters was not stipulated until the Taiho Code, and was first stipulated in the Yoro Clothing Code. However, in reality, it was only in February 719 (Yoro 3) under the Taiho Code that official officials were ordered to wear scepters, and aristocratic officials of the fifth rank or higher were given scepters (geno scepters) and those of the sixth rank or lower were given wooden scepters (mokushiyaku).
