Entomonotis

...Because of its wide distribution and rapid morphological change, it is considered an important index fossil for the Late Triassic Period. While the strict definition of Monotis is found in the Tethys region, centered around the Alps, species from the Pacific Rim region, such as eastern Siberia, Japan, New Zealand, the Andes, and the Rockies, are classified as the subgenus Entomonotis . In Japan, it is extremely common in sandstone and mudstone in the Utatsu region of Miyagi Prefecture, the Nariwa region of Okayama Prefecture, the Sagawa region of Kochi Prefecture, and the Yatsushiro region of Kumamoto Prefecture.
