Tomo no Miyatsuko clan of the Hajibe clan. Their family name is Muraji. It is also used in the Hajibe clan. In December 684 (the 13th year of Emperor Tenmu), they were given the surname Sukune. Their traditional duties were to build tombs for royalty and high-ranking officials and to carry out funerals, but when the Taika Edict on Simple Burials and the spread of cremation from the end of the 7th century changed tomb systems and funeral customs, their duties were hit hard and they lost power, and some of them began to act as general government officials. During the reign of Emperor Kanmu, they petitioned three times to change their family name and surname, in 781 (Ten'o 1), 782 (Enryaku 1), and 790, and split into three clans (Ason) of Sugawara, Akishino, and Oe.
