...The tree can reach a height of 20m, and in early summer (March-April in India) it produces clusters of crimson to purple-red flowers about 30cm long. Deiko is also called pārijāta (transliterated as harishitsuta), and in Hindu mythology it is said to have been created when the gods and asuras churned the ocean of milk, and to have adorned the heaven of Indra (Taishakuten). Incidentally, mandragora and Datura stramonium, which has anesthetic properties, are also sometimes called mandara flowers. ...
