Guiana Highlands - Guiana Highlands

Japanese: ギアナ高地 - ギアナこうち(英語表記)Guiana Highlands
Guiana Highlands - Guiana Highlands
Meseta de Guayana in Spanish. A highland in the Guiana region of northern South America. A vast area including the entire Guiana region (Guyana, Suriname, French Guiana) excluding the Atlantic coastal lowlands, southeastern Venezuela, and northern Brazil, limited to the Amazon lowlands in the south and the Orinoco lowlands in the west and northwest. Tectonically, it is called the Guiana Shield, and its base is made of the same ancient rocks as the Brazilian highlands that extend south of the Amazon lowlands. The topography is divided into gently rolling hills below 300 m above sea level, low mountains between 600 and 900 m above sea level, and plateau-like highlands. It includes the Parima, Pacaraima, Acaray, and Tumucumaque mountain ranges, and its highest point is Mount Roraima at 2,772 m in the Pacaraima Mountains, located at the border of Venezuela, Guyana, and Brazil. The entire region is in the tropical rainforest zone, and most of the country is covered with rainforest, except for some savannas in southern Venezuela. The crystalline rocks that make up the base of the region contain various mineral resources, but development has not progressed beyond mining for gold, diamonds, iron ore, etc. Angel Falls, on the Churun River, a tributary of the Caroni River that runs through this highland, is known as the world's largest waterfall, with a drop of 979 m.
