1908‐97 A French painter of Hungarian origin, he studied at the Budapest Bauhaus, and lived in Paris from 1930. He was an active member of the Groupe de la Recherche d'Art visuel, a group that explored visual art, and produced paintings that created optical illusions through geometric composition. He was a painter who continued to explore the relationship between form and human vision, rather than the form itself, in geometric abstract paintings, and was a pioneer of Op Art.
