A spider of the Theridiidae family. It is named after the bell-shaped dwelling it builds by weaving soil, sand, wood chips, and food scraps together with threads in cliffs, stone walls, and tree holes, and hides inside. The dwelling is suspended by one or two threads, and an irregular web of several threads is spread underneath. It is widely distributed throughout Southeast Asia, China, Taiwan, and Japan. Body length is 2 to 3 mm. The cephalothorax is brown or blackish brown, and the abdomen is usually brown with white spots scattered over it, and has a grayish-white horizontal band slightly below the center. The walking legs are light brown. It feeds mainly on ground-wandering insects such as ants and woodlouse, and catches prey by pulling it up when it gets caught in the thread.
