Japanese: ハゲコウ(禿鸛) - ハゲコウ（英語表記）marabou

A general term for birds of the genus Leptoptilos in the family Ciconidae in the order Ciconiformes. This genus includes three species: the greater adjutant L. dubius and the lesser adjutant L. javanicus , found in South Asia, and the marabou stork L. crumeniferus , found in Africa. Both the greater adjutant and the lesser adjutant are large birds, with a total length of up to 1.5 m and a wingspan of 3 m. The lesser adjutant, with a total length of about 1.1 m, is slightly smaller than the other two species. As the name marabou suggests, it is characterized by exposed skin on its head and neck.
