An old town in Nishiuwa District, occupying the base of the Sadamisaki Peninsula in the west of Ehime Prefecture. The main settlement is Kawanoishi. Amai in the west flourished as a shipping base in the Meiji era. Citrus fruits are cultivated and there is a mandarin canning factory.
