A mineral containing niobium (Nb) and tantalum (Ta) as its main components. Niobium and tantalum have very similar properties, and in nature they always occur together. Fergusonite (ABO _{4 )} , euxenite (AB ₂ O _{6 )} (orthorhombic crystal system, specific gravity: about 5), and samarskite (chemical formula: intermediate composition between AB ₂ O ₆ and ABO ₄ , in both cases the number of A + B is half the number of O). Since the following elements A and B can be substituted for each other in the crystal, it is difficult to express them with a single chemical formula.

ニオブNbとタンタルTaを主成分として含む鉱物。ニオブとタンタルは性質が酷似していて，天然には常に両者相伴って存在する。フェルグソン石fergusonite ABO₄，ユークセン石euxenite AB₂O₆(斜方晶系，比重約5)，サマルスキー石samarskite(化学式はAB₂O₆とABO₄の中間の組成で，どちらもA＋Bの数がOの数の1/2である。結晶中で次のAとBの元素が互いに入れかわりうるため，一つの化学式で示しにくい。
