…from Touraine. He wrote the long verse Roman de Troie, which belongs to the genre of so-called ancient imitation tales, and achieved great success around 1165-1170. It tells the story of the siege and fall of Troy, beginning with the adventures of the Argonauts in search of the Golden Fleece, and ending with the death of Odysseus. It is over 30,000 lines of eight syllables.
