A type of shoulder-carrying transport tool. It is made of straw mats, straw ropes, or wisteria vines woven into a mesh shape, with hanging cords attached to the four corners and carried using a balance pole. The main body is often mesh-like, but bag- or plate-like ones can also be seen. The name is said to have originally evolved from "mochiko (carrying basket)." It is suitable for carrying objects of an indefinite shape, such as soil, sand, and compost. It was also used to transport agricultural products.
