A former town in Ichishi County in central Mie Prefecture. It occupies the eastern foot of the Nunobiki Mountains, and the middle reaches of the Kumozu River. It produces timber and high-quality sake rice (Ichishi rice). The area of ​​the Kumozu River upstream near Ieki is famous for its beautiful valleys. It is served by the Meisho Line and the Kintetsu Osaka Line, and is home to Aoyama Pass. In January 2006, it was incorporated into Tsu City along with Hisai City, Aki County's Kawage Town, Geino Town, Ano Town, Misato Village, Ichishi County's Ichishi Town, Karasu Town, and Misugi Village. 111.86 km2 . Population 13,484 (2003).
