Kinki Nippon Railway
A private railway company. Founded Nara Kido in 1910, renamed Osaka Electric Kido. From 1922 to 1929, it merged with seven other railway companies, and in 1941 merged with Sangu Express Railway to become Kansai Express Railway. From 1943 to 1944, it merged with Osaka Railway and three other companies, and in 1944 merged with Nankai Railway to become the current company. In 1947, it separated the former Nankai Railway's lines and transferred them to the current Nankai Electric Railway. In 1988, it merged with Nara Electric Railway, in 1989, Shigiikoma Electric Railway, in 1990, and Mie Electric Railway in 1991, and in 1992, it separated its department store division. It has lines in Osaka, Kyoto, Nara, Mie, Gifu, and Aichi prefectures. It mainly operates railways, but also operates buses, real estate, and leisure industries. It also has many affiliated companies, including Kintetsu Department Store, Kintetsu Real Estate, Fukuyama Transporting, Kintetsu Daiichi Trucking, Kinki Sharyo, and Miyako Hotel. The routes are the Osaka Line (Uehommachi - Ise-Nakagawa 108.9km), Nagoya Line (Ise-Nakagawa - Kintetsu Nagoya 78.8km), Yoro Line (Ibi - Kuwana 57.6km), Minami Osaka Line (Osaka Abenobashi - Kashiharajingu-mae 39.8km), Kyoto Line (Kyoto - Yamato-Saidaiji 34.6km), Nara Line 26.7km, Yamada Line 28.3km, Namba Line 2km, Kashihara Line 23.8km, Tenri Line 4.5km, Shigi Line 2.8km, Iga Line 16.6km, Yoshino Line 25.2km, Nagano Line 12.5km, Domyoji Line 2.2km, Gose Line 5.2km, Suzuka Line 8.2km, Ikoma Line 12.6km, Tawaramoto Line The company has 10.1km of railway lines, 20.4km of Hokusei Line, 15.4km of Yunoyama Line, 5.7km of Utsunomiya Line, 1.3km of Hachioji Line, 24.5km of Shima Line, 13.2km of Toba Line, 10.2km of Higashi Osaka Line, and others, with a total operating mileage of 594.1km and a total operating mileage of 3865.7km for buses. The company's business activities are 78% rail transport, 4% automobiles, and 18% ancillary businesses. Annual operating revenue is 893,729 million yen (consolidated), capital is 91,082 million yen, and the number of employees is 11,716 (1999).
