This is a Yayoi period stone axe-making site located in Oaza Imajuku Yokohama, Nishi Ward, Fukuoka City. It is located on the middle and base of an isolated hill called Imayama, 85m above sea level. It was discovered in 1923. Imayama is made of basalt, and thick clam-blade stone axes characteristic of the Yayoi period are made from this basalt. Rough processing is done on the mountaintop or middle slope close to the raw material quarry, and finishing processing is done at two ruins at the foot of the mountain to turn them into products. Stone axe production seems to have been active in the first half of the middle Yayoi period, but a survey by the Fukuoka City Board of Education in 1969 revealed that it had been taking place since the end of the early Yayoi period.
