Now Story - Now Story

A collection of tales from the Kamakura period. 1 volume. Written by Fujiwara Nobuzane. Compiled between 1239 (En'o 1) and 1241 (Ninji 2). A collection of 53 relatively new tales from the late Heian period onwards. It deals mostly with the topics of upper class men and women in waka, renga and love, and the chapters mainly describe their elegance as "gentle", but there are also many humorous tales, and the latter half in particular tends to be vulgar. It is an interesting collection of tales that reveals an unknown side of people from the world of poetry in the Heike period, such as the Senzaishu and Shin Kokinshu, and influenced works such as The Tale of the Heike, but it has a somewhat familiar impression and has not been widely read.

鎌倉時代の説話集。1巻。藤原信実(のぶざね)著。1239年（延応1）～41年（仁治2）の間の成立。平安後期以後の比較的新しい説話53編を集める。和歌、連歌や恋愛に関する上流男女の話題が多く、彼らの風雅さを「やさし」と評する章段が中心をなすが、滑稽譚(こっけいたん)の類も目だち、とくに後半は卑俗に流れる傾向がある。平家の時代、『千載集(せんざいしゅう)』『新古今集』歌壇の人々などの知られざる一面を伝える興味深い説話集で、『平家物語』などに影響を与えているが、ややじみな印象があり、広く読まれるに至っていない。
