Congenital wheezing

It is also called congenital laryngeal stridor. A condition in which wheezing occurs due to a congenital abnormality in the epiglottis. Wheezing is a gurgling or wheezing sound that comes from the throat when breathing. Wheezing can also occur when the tongue is too large, the lower jaw is underdeveloped, or there is lymphoma or hemangioma, but these types of conditions with a clear underlying disease are excluded from congenital wheezing. It is thought that the cause is that the epiglottis is too long or weak, and that it is omega-shaped.

先天性喉頭喘鳴congenital laryngeal stridorということもある。喉頭蓋に先天的な異常があって喘鳴を発する状態。喘鳴とは呼吸のときにのどから出るゴロゴロ，ゼイゼイという音である。舌が大きすぎたり，下顎が発達不良であったり，リンパ腫や血管腫があるときなどにも喘鳴を伴うが，これらのように原疾患が明らかなものは先天性喘鳴からは除外する。原因は喉頭蓋が長すぎたり軟弱であること，形がΩ形であるためと考えられている。
