An electric guitar that does not have a resonating body. Although it looks similar to a guitar with a resonating body, the body is not hollow but merely a board, and the vibration of the strings directly generates an electric signal without resonating with the body, which is amplified by an amplifier and turned into sound by a speaker. Not all electric guitars are solid; electric guitars with a resonating body were made at first, but the first solid guitar was made for country music in 1947.
