Noguchi House

Japanese: 野口荘 - ののぐちのしょう

A manor located in Funai-gun, Tanba Province (currently near Hanyu, Sonobe-cho, Funai-gun, Kyoto Prefecture). Noguchi-go appears in the Wamyōshō, and Chokōdō-ryō Mokuroku (Record of the Chokōdō Domain) states that "One office, Tanba Province Noguchi Maki, annual tax 400 koku, main tax 300 koku," so it is believed that Noguchi Maki within Noguchi-go was donated to Shirakawa-in and became the Chokōdō domain. According to the Chokōdō domain order of 1191 (Kenkyū 2), which records annual taxes, Noguchi-sho was to provide a 6-ken blind, 10 ryo sand, and 30 flowers for the first three fees in the New Year, temporary laborers for the Gohakō and year-end cleaning, visits to Hiyoshi Shrine, and visits to the Imperial Palace, circulating vegetables on the 3rd of each month, and irises and mugwort on May 4th.

丹波国船井郡(現，京都府船井郡園部町埴生付近か)にあった荘園。《和名抄》に野口郷がみえており，《長講堂領目六(録)》に〈一庁分，丹波国野口牧，年貢四百石，本三百石〉とみえるので，野口郷内の野口牧が白河院に寄進され長講堂領荘園になったものと思われる。年中課役について記した1191年(建久2)の長講堂所領注文によると，野口荘は正月元三料の御簾6間･砂10両･移花30枚，御八講･歳末の掃除および日吉社御幸･宮行啓の臨時人夫，毎月3日の廻御菜，5月4日の菖蒲と艾（よもぎ）を出すことになっていた。
