This is an episcopal church on the Île de la Cité in Paris. It is a magnificent example of early Gothic architecture, with the west facade being the most harmonious of French Gothic architecture. The rectangular twin towers and the vertical lines of the buttresses that divide the facade into three parts along the lines of the twin towers, along with the horizontal lines of the King's Gallery, create an unparalleled balance and harmony, with the rose window at the center. The current building is the third to be built, following those built in the 5th and 6th centuries (or early 7th century). Construction began on the sanctuary in the mid-12th century, and was completed in 1182.

パリのシテ島にある司教座教会。フランス･ゴシック建築のなかでは西正面が最も調和を見せている，初期ゴシック建築の壮大な作例である。矩形の双塔や，双塔の線に沿って正面を3部分に分割するバットレス(扶壁)の垂直線と，〈王のギャラリー〉の水平線とが，ばら窓を中心に比類ない均衡と調和を保っている。　現在の建物は，5世紀，6世紀(または7世紀初頭)の建造に続く第3番目のものである。12世紀中ごろ，内陣から建造が始まり，1182年に完成。
