Died: July 7, 1901. Zurich. Swiss female author. Maiden name Heusser. She wrote many books for boys and girls, full of children's understanding of the world, love of nature, simple faith, and humor. In particular, Heidi (2 volumes, 1880, 81), which has a girl from the Alps as the main character, is loved all over the world. Her collection of works includes Stories for Children and Those Who Love Children (Geschichten für Kinder und auch für solche, welche die Kinder liebhaben) (16 volumes, 79-95).
